Virginia M. Shepler, nee Gurtner, 83, of LaGrange, beloved wife of Joseph F.; loving mother of Judith (William) Lorch, Janet McReynolds, Joyce (Michael) Turner, Jay (Cynthia), Joan (John) Laycock, Jeffrey, June (James) Burke and James; proud grandmother of 18; great-grandmother of ten; dear sister of the late Kathryn Makielski of Mishawaka, IN. Virginia was born in South Bend, IN and was a devoted fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. A graduate of Elgin High School in Illinois and a proud member of their marching band. She assisted the F.B.I. during World War II and worked 50 years for Preston A. Higgins & Co. in Chicago. Visitation 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th Street, Countryside. Funeral Mass 10 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Cletus Church, LaGrange.
