– Portuguese fado singer Mariza is to replace Cristina Branco at the 6:30 p.m. Aug. 2 concert “From Brazil to Portugal” in Millennium Park, the park said Monday. Mariza last appeared in Chicago at the World Music Festival in 2004.
– Elizabeth Hurley stars in new print ads for Jordache, the company that became famous during the 1970s designer-label jeans craze. The ads, shot by Michael Thompson, show the 41-year-old model-actress wearing the Jordache Vintage line, sold in high-end retail stores, and the new Jordache Legacy line, launching exclusively at Macy’s stores across the country this fall. Brittany Murphy, whose movie credits include “Sin City” and “8 Mile,” starred in a series of Jordache jeans print ads last year.
– “Dilbert” comic-strip creator Scott Adams married his girlfriend of two years, Shelly Miles, aboard a yacht in the San Francisco Bay on Saturday, People.com reports. Adams says he’ll continue to work on his nationally syndicated comic strip, along with his blog, during his honeymoon. Will art imitate life for Adams’s famous creation, the unlucky office drone Dilbert? “Dilbert is not getting married,” says Adams.
– Janet Jackson isn’t sure whether she’s engaged to Jermaine Dupri, she revealed in an interview that aired Tuesday on Britain’s Choice FM Radio, People.com reports. The host asked Jackson, “Are you engaged?” “That’s what he said!” Jackson replied. “So if . . . I don’t know. You know . . . Everyone’s been asking me about it. And if it’s meant to happen, it’ll happen.” Last year, Dupri told People magazine the only thing holding the couple back was work on their respective albums.
