Constance Casieri, beloved mother of Elizabeth Sabina Casieri (fiance, John Tuohy), passed away early Sunday morning, July 23, at her home in Chicago. Constance (known to friends and family as Connie) was born in Boston, MA, and lived for a short time in Florida where she worked and met her future husband, Anthony Casieri, a hairstylist. They were married in 1932 and moved to New York for a short time, then to Chicago in 1940 where she lived the rest of her life. In addition to Elizabeth, Connie is survived by a number of nephews and nieces. Connie was practically a grandmother to her grandnephew Vinny Casieri, an attorney, and his wife, Amy, of Deerfield, IL, and was very close to their children, Alex, 6, and Anabel, 3, the only relatives in the Midwest, except for Vinny’s brother Chris who lived here for five years and was a loving part of her life. She was responsible for finding his apartment when he first moved to Chicago for law school. Connie loved to play with Vinny’s children whenever they visited, and they were quick to hug and kiss her when they saw her. She insisted on accompanying the children to the beautiful gardens at the Edgewater Beach apartments, watching them run around the track and play on the swings. She always remembered every detail about their lives and was interested in hearing about each milestone in their lives. For the past three years, Connie was cared for by her “daughter” and Gloria Allen who treated her as if she were her own mother. They had a very loving relationship. Connie had many longtime friends in the Chicagoland area and in the building where she lived for 34 years. Connie will be remembered for her fantastic sense of humor, her sharp intellect and her care and devotion to her family, especially her daughter Elizabeth. She will be greatly missed. Memorial Mass and Services will be held at St. Gertrude’s Church, 1420 W. Granville Avenue, Chicago, IL, at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2006.
