It seems that most of the people who are objecting to President George W. Bush’s veto of the embryonic stem cell research federal funding bill are either uninformed or intentionally overlook the fact that this does not stop such research done by universities, research institutes, drug companies, etc.

Private foundations, individuals, as well as states can sponsor such research.

I personally disagree with the veto, but I understand that this is a controversial moral issue with a variety of views and perceived limits, such that a significant part of the population may not agree.

The issue is whether or not federal funding should be provided.

The research is not against the law.
