The Chicago baseball scene has finally returned to normal–both teams stink once again.

Isn’t it time to play the requiem for the “Scott Podsednik Instant Offense” strategy? I’d much rather see Carlos Lee in the White Sox’s lineup, and after watching the play of Podsednik and Pablo Ozuna, would Lee be any worse in the field?

The Sox have regressed to their play of two years ago, swinging for the fences and not doing the little things that win games. “Small ball” is a myth. I know Greg Walker doesn’t speak Japanese, but can’t the interpreter tell Tadahito Iguchi it’s not a good idea to try to pull pitches on the outside part of the plate?

The Sox seem to have lost their focus and play as if all they have to do to win is show up. Being laid-back and easygoing isn’t working. And speaking of focus, Ozzie Guillen should spend less time yelling at reporters and members of other teams and direct his attention where it really belongs: on a Sox team that does not exhibit any motivation, fire, aggressiveness or baseball smarts on the field.

I wonder how Kenny Williams really feels about all this right now?
