– A London fire Sunday seriously damaged the set of “Casino Royale,” the latest James Bond movie, caving in the roof of a soundstage transformed into a replica of Venice. Pinewood Shepperton, the studio where the fire erupted, said filming for the Bond production, starring Daniel Craig, was complete. The fire’s cause was unknown; no injuries were reported. – Willie Nelson says the Dixie Chicks “got a raw deal” from a disapproving public after their criticism of President Bush. “I think the fact that they were overseas and onstage had a little bit to do with it because you’re speaking to other people about our business,” he said in an interview in this week’s Time magazine. The trio was knocked after singer Natalie Maines told a London audience in 2003 the group was “ashamed” Bush was from their home state of Texas.
– Gong Li said Colin Farrell, her “Miami Vice” co-star, taught her how to drink beer but she introduced him to mojitos, a Hong Kong paper reported Sunday. Gong plays the lover of a crime lord in the film, and Farrell is a detective who has a relationship with her. She said Farrell “treats everybody well. … As a result, it’s easy to feel relaxed around him.” ———- The Personals page was compiled by Cristi Kempf from Tribune news services and staff reports.
