Austin band Sound Team has been touring for a few months, making its way across the U.S. for a stop at Lollapalooza this weekend.
The road hasn’t been easy for the six-piece group–singer-guitarist Matt Oliver, bassist Bill Baird, keyboardists Michael Baird and Gabe Pearlman, drummer Jordan Johns and guitarist Sam Sanford.
Turnouts for the shows have been up and down, Oliver said. L.A., San Francisco and Denver “did very well,” while Tucson, Ariz., and Sacramento were “miserable,” he said.
Then the van broke down in Yreka, Calif. “It was with great sadness that we had to leave the white whale in a junkyard,” he said. The band was stuck for two days before touring resumed in a mini-van and a U-Haul box truck.
But in the band’s blog entry from July 24 (at soundteam.net), members say they’ve been having a good time–even if they’ve broken three keyboards, two guitars and an amplifier.
Hopefully they’ll find replacements before Friday.
