Two hundred Q Challenges. The discovery of 200 exoplanets–that is, planets outside our solar system. Coincidence? Of course!
The Astrophysical Journal, which we read religiously (OK, we saw it in USA Today), recently reported that “planet detectives” (that may have been USA Today’s term) had reached the 200-exoplanet milestone and were far from finished.
If we’re going to colonize all those planets, we’d better get busy. Tell us who you’d send to bring civilization, or something like it, to “HD 164922 b” or one of its fellow planets, and why. Q thinks that with 50 aldermen, Chicago could probably spare four or five or 37 to help establish the Interplanetary City That Works.
Send entries–limit three per person–by noon Thursday to q@tribune.com. Include your name and address and put Challenge 200 in the subject field. Top three finishers win something celestial.
