We are fortunate indeed to have averted an attack of such deadly magnitude as that apparently planned for flights departing London to the United States.
Being fortunate, however, does not make us right.
For the U.S. and Britain to “stay the course,” what we seem to have set for ourselves–in the Palestinian territories, in Iraq, in Iran and now in Lebanon–is to invite further such attempts, in some of which we will not be so fortunate.
