It’s no surprise that Americans know more about pop culture than politics and history. An April survey showed that more people know the five “Simpsons” family characters than the five protections in the 1st Amendment. Now, a new poll commissioned by the producers of a pop culture game called Gold Rush shows we know more about Snow White than the Supreme Court.
Here are a few findings from Chicago respondents:
99 percent: Could name one of Chicago’s two major-league baseball teams
28 percent: Could name a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from the Chicago area (Congressman Bobby Rush was the most frequently identified, with 6 percent of responders naming him)
78 percent: Could name two of Snow White’s seven dwarfs
22 percent: Could name two Supreme Court justices
40 percent: Knew Mercury is the planet closest to the Sun
50 percent: Knew Krypton was home planet of Superman
