The singer backed off his criticism of “American Idol” winner Taylor Hicks–or rather, his publicist did.
“He has tremendous affection for Taylor Hicks’ success,” Ken Sunshine told The Associated Press. “He would never say anything that personal about somebody he’s never met.”
In a previous interview with Fashion Rocks magazine, Timberlake sounded like he was dissing Hicks, saying the Alabama singer “can’t carry a tune in a bucket.” Asked for his opinion of “American Idol,” Timberlake said, “I despise it, and yet I’m completely fascinated.”
Sunshine said Timberlake’s comments “were taken completely out of context.”
