We’ve been dragging our booties outta bed for so many years for jelly doughnut pancakes and green eggs and ham at Orange (3231 N. Clark St. 773-549-4400), we were totally psyched when we heard that the beloved Lakeview brunch spot added dinner service a few weeks ago. But what a shock! There’s a low dose of the spot’s trademark tongue-in-check humor on the menu. Expect straight-up offerings (with straight-up names) like a pork shank osso buco with porcini mushroom sauce ($16.95), horseradish-crusted petite filet mignon with potatoes au gratin ($17.95), and fried chicken and waffles with a pecan glaze ($10.95). They’ve also beefed up the after-dark amenities: Tables get white linen, fresh flowers and candles. Budget bonus: BYOB, no corkage fee. Bad news: They don’t take reservations at dinner either.
