– What happened to the series “What About Brian”? Only a few episodes aired, then it was gone. –Grace Terrazas, El Paso, Texas
Don’t worry, fresh installments will resume soon. As with virtually all shows that get spring-season tryouts, only a relative handful of stories was produced the first time around, but ABC was impressed enough with the results to pick up the Barry Watson-starring series for the new season. It’ll be returning in the same Monday slot, and in fact, it’s the only new ABC show from the past season to have gotten a renewal.
– I recently started watching “Criminal Minds.” Is this the first season, or has it been on longer? If it has, are earlier episodes available on DVD? –Margaret Polk, Lincoln, Neb.
The past season was the highly successful first one for the Mandy Patinkin CBS crime drama, and Paramount Home Video will release those episodes in a DVD set Sept. 19, to coincide with the start of the show’s second year on the air.
– I was wondering if Mariska Hargitay of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” had her baby yet. –Heidi Schwoerer, Glen Burnie, Md.
The actress and her actor husband, Peter Hermann (who has made a number of guest appearances alongside his wife on NBC’s “SVU”), welcomed son August Miklos Friedrich Hermann on June 27.
– Will the first season of the WB Network series “Supernatural” be available on DVD? –Janay Royster, Baltimore
It will. Warner Home Video will have it in stores Sept. 5, as a prelude to the start of the Jensen Ackles-Jared Padalecki drama’s new year on the new CW network.
– My favorite show is “Without a Trace,” but I’ve noticed CBS is advertising a new show for that Thursday time slot. Are they moving “Without a Trace,” or has it been canceled? –Diane Hounshell, Highlands Ranch, Colo.
You’re right; the slot that the show had from the start is going to “Shark,” a new drama starring James Woods as a defense attorney turned prosecutor. “Without a Trace” is moving to Sunday, where CBS is abandoning the longtime movie franchise it’s had on that evening to make sort of a crime double feature by pairing the series with “Cold Case,” which is shifting to an hour later.
