On opening night of the Sahil store, owner Bhavesh Patel, sister Rachel, mom Nirmala and dad Prazin greeted guests. This is no mom-and-pop store but a two-story boutique with oak floors and large windows facing Devon Avenue. Designer runway shows played on flat-screen plasma TVs. Don’t expect to find a conflict of interests at Sahil Exclusive: Tradition and trend are happily wed in this boutique focusing on South Asian bridal designs. Crystal-covered lenghas (skirt-style saris) hang near Western-inspired corsets ready to pair with jeans. “I did all my wedding shopping here,” said Rakhee Mistry, who chose a hot pink lengha but tonight was wearing a denim mini with black leggings and gold wedges. Good thing this wasn’t a wedding. Gov. Rod Blagojevich was running late and Patel couldn’t start the ribbon-cutting without the ribbon-cutter. The men didn’t seem to mind; they were too busy babbling about Bollywood beauty Mahima Chaudhry, soon to be seen with Brad Pitt in the international thriller “Babel.”
