“E! News” co-anchor Giuliana DePandi came to town last week to hang out with boyfriend Bill Rancic and discuss her book, “Think Like A Guy,” at the Michigan Avenue Borders.

DePandi took some time to give me her top dating tips from her book Saturday at a downtown Starbucks before heading over to Borders.

DePandi seems to know what she’s talking about: She took her own advice to score Rancic! Here’s what she suggested:

– Don’t obsess over babies or puppies.

– When you first meet a guy, don’t take his number. Let him take yours.

– Forget stuff. For example, anniversaries and other special occasions (the exception being his birthday).

– Don’t overaccessorize. “Don’t look like you were jumped by a rack at Bloomingdale’s. Guys like a girl in a T-shirt and jeans.”

– Don’t reveal unnecessary information about yourself, such as your credit card debt.

– Do not be a finicky eater. Order straight from the menu at a restaurant. “A guy would hear ‘high-maintenance,’ ” said DePandi, a self-professed finicky eater. She made sure Rancic had no idea at the beginning of their relationship.

– Keep your family out of your fights. “When you make up with him, you’ve forgiven him, but Dad hasn’t,” DePandi said.

– Never kiss on the first date. “Hold out as long as you can. It drives him crazy!”

– Pull a coyote. “When you first sleep at his house, get out of there before he wakes up. Leave looking like the hot girl from the night before.”

– Occasionally pick up the tab. On DePandi’s second date with Rancic she paid for their sushi dinner while Rancic was in the bathroom. “He almost had a heart attack,” DePandi said. “No girl had ever paid for a date, and he thought it was a classy move.”

– And finally, avoid certain words on a first date, such as “marriage,” “wedding,” “rehab,” “therapist” and “Prozac.”

Gotta Luv ’em

A special congratulations to the 2006/2007 Luvabulls! The new squad of hotties who dance at Bulls games was announced Wednesday night at the Hilton on Michigan Avenue, and I had the pleasure of serving as a judge. Good luck this season, girls!
