One consideration to America’s insatiable thirst for oil is gas rationing. It would force conservation, greater reliance on public transit, car pooling, biking, walking. We’d become fitter, leaner, stronger people.

Roadways would become less jammed; air, water and soil quality would improve with lower exhaust emissions; there would be fewer drivers and, thus, fewer accidents.

Higher pump prices aren’t having any impact overall. Rationing would reinforce responsibility and conservation, and result in a less-polluted planet.
