Eugenia “Jean” Van Arkel, nee Razmus, 84, of Darien and formerly of Berwyn and Roseland (60 years), passed away peacefully Aug. 24, at her home surrounded by her family; devoted wife of the late John (“Bud”); her memory will live on in the hearts of her children, Betty (Joe Sharp), Sandy (John) and Tom; devoted grandmother and confidant of Alex and Laura Sharp and Garrett and Kirsten Van Arkel; dear aunt and honorary mom and grandma to many; she will be missed by all who knew her. Preceded in death by her parents Frank and Aniele, nee Lapie) Razmus; sister Nellie (Tony) Zansitis and brothers, Frank and Jerry. She carried her solid Roseland values with her throughout her life; devoted herself completely to her extended family; was never happier than when she was chauffering everyone around in her big Chrysler; she spoiled her dogs (especially Jake) as much as her grandchildren; her generosity and caring made the world a better place. Since she can no longer enjoy flowers, please omit them and honor her life by making a donation to American Cancer Society or St. Thomas Hospice. “I sveikas” grandma; give grandpa a hug for us. Visitation Sunday 2 to 8 p.m. at Hills Funeral Home, Ltd., 10201 S. Roberts Rd. (8000W.), Palos Hills. A chapel service will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday evening at the funeral home.
