I read with interest the articles about the airline pilots wanting to raise their retirement age.

I also read that former President Gerald Ford had a pacemaker inserted that will help him, and that he is now 93 years young.

Thanks to modern medicine, a large number of people are living longer. As with any type of change, we need to readjust our thinking.

If Social Security begins at 62 and Medicare benefits begin at 65 and their pensions are being cut, how are these pilots supposed to survive financially? If Ford couldn’t afford a pacemaker surgery, would he be left to die?

As the Boomers come of age, we, as a group, need to speak up and speak out, so that we can experience the quality of life that our wrinkles have earned all of us.
