1. Bridging the gap
With Beyonce on today’s cover, I feel it’s only fair and balanced to mention that Audioslave’s album comes out Tuesday as well. Different genres, yes, but both artists believe in the power of the booty shake.
2. Huh?
Did I just say “fair and balanced”? Even when I’m not on holiday, my brain is.
3. The sickness
An L.A. Times critic calls “House” the best show on TV. I’m not going to argue with that. The only show that’s more realistic about diseases is “Flavor of Love.”
4. Time to heal
Frank (above) comes to the post-Labor Day realization that he should have listened to his buddies and turned down that last brat.
5. Sorry won’t cut it
Tom Cruise reportedly apologized to Brooke Shields for his comments about postpartum depression. Still waiting for an apology for “Vanilla Sky.”
6. Start it up
If there’s anything better than the first weekend of college football that doesn’t involve cookie dough, we have yet to discover it.
7. The ancients
Just read a story about a 100-year-old British man who still works at a plumbing firm. Interestingly enough, he cited Regis Philbin as an early role model.
8. Fun with casting
There are rumors on the Web that Sean Penn was the first choice to play the Joker in the next Batman movie. Um, guys, the Grim Reaper would bring more lightheartedness to the role.
9. Shoo-in
The American Film Institute has named the top 25 movie musicals of all time. If “Captain EO” isn’t on that list, there’ll be hell to pay.
