In July, Marshall Field’s-Macy’s hosted an “open call” event, inviting emerging clothing and accessory designers to showcase their wares.
“Hosting an open call and showcasing local talent is a great way to give back to the community. … Mixing these pieces into our stable of more established designers is a great way to differentiate ourselves in the marketplace,” said Laura Stuefen, a senior buyer at Marshall Field’s.
How does the selection process work? A panel of buyers hand-picked the designers, who debut their clothing starting Saturday at the Designers of Chicago at Macy’s on State Street shop. Here are some of the designers showing their pieces:
