The City Council voted Tuesday to spend $60,000 for enhancing the construction project at the Wheaton Public Library.
The council voted unanimously to spend $39,969 to replace three entry doors, frames and lights at the east main lobby entrance. According to a staff report, that lobby entrance was not addressed, possibly because of oversight, during the planning process for the $20.9 million library project.
The city also will spend $20,406 for a mechanical window blind system. The library’s original bid called for vertical blinds, but the staff said horizontal blinds would work better from practical and aesthetic standpoints.
Assistant City Manager Michael Dzugan told the council the project is on budget and could accommodate the upgrades. Construction on the 50,000-square-foot library addition is expected to conclude later this year.
