Northwestern’s Mike Kafka says he relishes the high expectations of playing quarterback in the Big Ten and the responsibility that goes with it. After Saturday’s 34-17 loss to New Hampshire, the pressure will grow.
“That’s why I took the job,” the redshirt freshman said. “That’s the kind of pressure you put on yourself and the team.” . . .
The Wildcats failed to convert four fourth-downs as they tried to rally. . . . With no TV timeouts and New Hampshire milking the clock in the second half, the game was played in 2 hours 35 minutes, including a 59-minute second half. . . . Tyrell Sutton has carried only 27 times in the first two games as NU spreads the work to include Terrell Jordan and Kafka. . . . Erryn Cobb has blocked a punt in each of the first two games.
Next: Saturday vs. Eastern Michigan, 1 p.m.
