International leaders at bar event
The Chicago Bar Association is hosting leaders of metropolitan bar associations from around the world during the Conference of World City Bar Leaders taking place Thursday through Saturday at the Chicago Bar Association headquarters, 321 S. Plymouth Ct.
Members of municipal bar associations from Australia, Canada, Mexico and cities throughout Europe, Asia and Africa will convene for three days of sessions exploring the current international law landscape.
Some of the topics to be discussed include international arbitration, investment in Europe, the changing political landscape of Latin America, global air transport, Guantanamo Bay and the independence of the judiciary.
Richard S. Williamson, partner at Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw in Chicago, will lead a session on human rights. He is a former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Council on Human Rights.
