Illinois coach Ron Zook isn’t planning a lineup shakeup in the aftermath of last weekend’s 33-0 loss at Rutgers.
“I don’t think it’s the answer–to start making wholesale changes,” he said. “There’s no doubt in my mind we’re better [than last year]. We just didn’t look it. I’m not ready to put the season on one game.” . . . In the Rutgers game, the Scarlet Knights had the ball 33 minutes 1 second, the Illini 26:59.
. . . The Illini have used 15 freshmen, second most in Division I-A. Temple is first with 16. Four freshmen have started: punter Kyle Yelton, cornerback Vontae Davis, and tight ends Jeff Cumberland and Michael Hoomanawanui.
