Like a modern-day version of the pop-country band Alabama marbled with bits of Lynyrd Skynyrd scruffiness, this Georgia quintet makes its debut with some decent enough Southern rock. Anchored by the appealingly gruff-lite vocals of lead singer Ryder Lee–who sounds like a less toxic Ronnie Van Zant–the Lost Trailers have plenty of commercial smarts, from the irresistibly chiming guitars on “Call Me Crazy” to the intoxicating wall-of-Southern-harmonies on “Why Me” and “All This Love.” Given the fun found here, there’s also the occasional stumble. “I’m a Country Man” is just another paint-by-numbers, good ol’ boy declarative, the kind of tune Music Row cranks out with weekly regularity these days. Why is it that every young country stud–from Keith Anderson to Eric Church to Jake Owen–feels the need to sing a predictable anthem about working hard and partying even harder? Enough, already!
