Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

With end of summer looming–and with the official barbecue season soon over–we think parking it on the couch for a college football game instead of sweating over a hot grill is the way to go. If you’re in the same mindset, head to Uncle John’s BBQ, where pit master Mack Sevier kicks out full-of-flava hot links ($6.50-$8), finger-licking-good spareribs ($8.75-$14) and meaty rib tips ($6.50-$8.75) for carryout only. The ‘cue at this Greater Grand Crossing spot is the real deal. Sevier gives the ribs ample rub-love, then smokes ’em over a variety of woods, including oak, elm and mulberry. The top-notch links are laced with the perfect amount of spice (if you wanna DIY, you can score a 15-pound box for $32.85). Phone first: During off-peak times slabs aren’t always available. 337 E. 69th St., 773-892-1233.
