Why criticize Notre Dame for such a poor game against Michigan as the No. 2-ranked team (Tribune, Sept. 17)? It wasn’t Notre Dame that ranked itself No. 2, it was the sportswriters who vote in the AP poll. You can criticize Notre Dame for its performance, but it’s the sportswriters who should be criticized for the No. 2 ranking. I am a Notre Dame alumnus and fan, and I certainly didn’t think ND should be ranked close to No. 2.
