When Oasis Cafe closed for remodeling in June, we were bummed. We not only lost one of our fave Middle Eastern lunch spots; but we also lost the excuse to ogle fine jewelry en route to the restaurant’s discreet location in the Wabash Jewelers Mall (21 N. Wabash Avenue). A lease dispute forced owner Suleiman Ahmad to more visible digs just south of the old location in mid-September. No dazzling diamonds on display in the food court Oasis now calls home, but there’s now seating for 250. Plus, the menu remains intact. Options include a baba ghanoush plate ($4.15) and a hummus plate with grilled chicken ($6.39), as well as daily specials such as Moroccan couscous ($5.49-$6.39). 17 S. Wabash Ave. 312-443-9534.
