Research has debunked the so-called CSI Effect–the belief that the popular TV franchise has made jurors less likely to convict in cases lacking forensic evidence such as DNA. But the real-life American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors, announcing its annual meeting this week, offered a few other myths about the profession:

3 An average crime lab in REAL life is a fraction of the size of the ones seen on TV.

4 Equipment shown on TV is hard to buy — today’s crime labs don’t have the funding for it.

5 Crime lab directors do not drive Hummers!
