– Will “Crossing Jordan” return for a new season? When last seen, Jordan was trying to clear herself of the murder of her boyfriend. -Shirley Rambo, Seattle
And that’s just where the saga of the medical examiner – played by Jill Hennessy will pick up when the NBC drama series begins its sixth season Oct. 20. On the network’s original 2006-07 schedule, it wasn’t supposed to be back until January, so its fans are getting a bonus of sorts.
– Is Tim Gunn of “Project Runway” related in any way to Sean Gunn of “Gilmore Girls”? -Amanda Freedy, Chicago
Apparently not. However, Sean has a writer-producer-director-composer-actor (whew!) brother named James Gunn, who has worked on movies including “Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed,” “Slither” and the 2004 update of “Dawn of the Dead.” James also is a veteran of Troma Pictures, the firm that specializes in low-budget horror-comedy tales, and his wife is Jenna Fischer of NBC’s “The Office.”
– Could you tell me something about the actress who plays the mother on “Two and a Half Men”? I know I’ve seen her in other shows, but I can’t place her. -Don Havell, Schaumburg, Ill.
Holland Taylor has been one of the busiest actresses in show business for years, so it’s little wonder you’ve seen her other places. She landed one of her best-known roles (and a 1999 Emmy Award) as a judge who became emotionally involved with one of the law firm’s attorneys on “The Practice”; her other series have included “Bosom Buddies,” “The Powers That Be,” “Saved by the Bell: The College Years,” “The Naked Truth,” “Veronica’s Closet” and “Baby Bob.”
And that’s not all: Beyond her soap-opera stints on “The Edge of Night” and “All My Children,” Taylor’s guest-star turns have ranged from “ER” to “The L Word.” Among her many movies are “Romancing the Stone,” “To Die For,” “George of the Jungle,” “The Truman Show,” “Legally Blonde” and “The Wedding Date.”
