I have to say that I lived in the Gold Coast when I first moved to Chicago and I have a different spin on this topic of cars vs. pedestrians.
First, it seems that people walking have never driven a car in their lives, and people driving have never walked.
It is amazing to me how many times when I am walking I will think to myself, “What an idiot–pulling this far into the crosswalk,” or, “They are driving way too fast.”
Then a day later I will be driving and realize I am too far in the crosswalk or driving too fast. It boggles my mind to think that all of the complaints come from pedestrians who have never done the exact same thing they are complaining about.
