Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

If the Cubs really want to hire a manager who can get them to the promised land, their short list should start and end with only one name: Mark Grace. If they really want someone who “gets it,” he’s their man.

Does he have experience as a manager? No, but Grace bleeds Cubbie blue. Like Ozzie Guillen, he was wronged by his club in the past, and I’m sure he’d like nothing better than to show the club it made a mistake by breaking ties. He has the desire to return to the club one way or another, and what better way than to let him take the reins and show all the players what it means to be a Cub?

Joe Girardi may be a good manager, but if you had your choice, wouldn’t you rather have a great manager? A manager needs to get a start somewhere, and if the Cubs were smart they’d realize they probably have one right under their nose.
