A St. Charles man charged with illegally broadcasting on radio frequencies used by three Kane County police departments was sentenced to probation and community service in a plea agreement reached with the state’s attorney’s office Friday.
Under the agreement, Nicholas M. Hassan, 20, of the 700 block of Mosedale Street was ordered to complete 375 hours of community service over two years.
Hassan was charged by St. Charles police with impersonating a police officer by making more than 150 transmissions over frequencies used by the St. Charles, Batavia and Geneva Police Departments. The transmissions were made between April 28 and June 6, said Kane County Assistant State’s Atty. Andrea Boyle.
