Autos
– Ford will bring out at least one derivative of the Mustang each year starting in 2008 with the return of the Bullitt, last offered in 2002. Bullitt paid tribute to the movie of the same name, which contains one of Hollywood’s most famous car chases in and around San Francisco. “The Mustang name is magic and we want to keep the momentum going with a version that was very popular,” says Cisco Codina, group vice president of sales and marketing. “When we announced we’d build Bullitt, we said we would produce only 5,000 and we got that many orders the day we made the announcement.”
Recall
– Cervelo Cycles is recalling about 650 2005 R2.5 carbon-fiber bicycles with serial numbers higher than R251700 because the frames can loosen or separate, causing the rider to lose control. Consumers should stop using the products and contact Cervelo to receive a free replacement frame. Call 866-296-3137 or visit www.cervelo.com/R25recall or www.cpsc.gov.
Rail
– High gas prices and construction slowdowns have helped boost ridership on the South Shore Line from South Bend, Ind., to Chicago. The Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District recorded a 13 percent ridership increase since August 2005. Though officials are considering extending the line to Valparaiso and Lowell, the area may not be growing fast enough to qualify for Federal Transit Authority funds.
