William A. Ashley, WWII Army Captain. Cherished husband of Lydia, nee Baumgard; devoted father of Kathleen (Bruce) Pope and the late William Arthur Ashley; proud grandfather of Jason, Sarah, Stacy and Jennifer; fond great-grandpa of Sophia and Colton; loving brother of Robert (Barbara) Ashley; dear nephew of Eula Ashley. Funeral Service 11 a.m. Wednesday at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 5015 Lincoln (corner of Rt. 53 and Short St.), Lisle. Cremation will be private. Visitation Tuesday, 3 to 9 p.m. Mr. Ashley retired in 1982 as Superintendent of the Insurance and Pensions Medical Dept. of the C.T.A. Along with Elmer Holman, William was a restorer of Medieval Armor, restoring the Arms and Armor Harding Collection at the Art Institute of Chicago, retiring in 1962. William was also a Shriner, 32nd Degree Mason and deeply gifted craftsman, painter and sculptor. For info 630-964-9392.
