The rash of gun violence in our schools–or anywhere else–should come as no surprise. Our society places few meaningful restrictions on the free flow of high-powered weaponry and enabling ammunition. Then we glamorize the use of these guns in film, television shows and video games, desensitizing young people to the reality. The merchants of violence, both gun dealers and filmmakers, will continue to hide behind the Constitution. Their wares may be legal, but they exact a high price from the rest of us.
