Robert D. Lichtman, age 79, of Munster, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006, at The Community Hospital, Munster. He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria, of 52 years; loving sons, Charles (Gayle) Lichtman of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Marc (Holly) Lichtman of Highland Park, IL; two granddaughters, Brooke and Jordan and grandson, Zachary; two sisters, Elsie Meilick and Clara (Sam) Cohen, all of Indianapolis, IN; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, including members of the Klein and Hertz families. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, at 11 a.m., at the Burns-Kish FuneralHome, 8415 Calumet Ave., Munster, with Rabbi Raphael Ostrovsky officiating. Burial at Memorial Park Cemetery in Skokie, IL. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to Service. He had a distinguished career as a store manager and pharmacist for 42 years with the Walgreen Company and many stores within the Chicagoland area. He was recognized by Walgreens as its all time greatest store manager and known as its six million dollar man. He was a proud Veteran of WWII. Bob rose to the position of Commander of the Illinois and Indiana Jewish War Veterans. Upon retirement from Walgreens he immediately began working at the Munster Community Hospital as a volunteer; he was also involved in community activities such as the Humane Society and serving as a volunteer advisor for youth groups. Bob will be remembered as a loyal and caring friend to all, willing to do anything for anybody. He was known for his intelligence, warmth, excellent humor and absolute integrity. Donations may be made to the Jewish War Veterans or the Congressional Beth Israel Building Fund in Munster, IN.
