“He said blah, blah … ” “She did blah, blah … ” It’s election time: whine, accuse, duck and evade. Our gubernatorial candidates argue over who canceled or won’t agree to debates and point fingers like kids who had their ice cream taken away. A “debate” behind the closed doors of the Tribune editorial room? All this leaves the voters of Illinois in the cold with no real answers to real issues. For starters: What will each do to bring the state out of the fiscal quicksand we are in?
How will they restructure our confiscatory tax system in order to attract tax-revenue-providing business here instead of driving it out of the state?
How about trimming our wasteful, costly maze of bureaucratic procedures, such as Central Management Services?
What are their views on litigation reform to help bring down insurance costs?
It would be nice to have a real, open debate with answers affecting the people of the state instead of which candidate can throw more mud on the other.
