You don’t have to explain the beauty of Justin Timberlake’s song “SexyBack” to Timbaland. After all, Timbaland produced the smash-hit single, and he rhymes on it for good measure.

“Some people listen to a song like ‘SexyBack’ and think, ‘Am I queer? Am I funny?’ ” he told the November issue of Blender magazine. “If you are that way, you’re just that way. But if you’re a masculine man, embrace it. Have a glass of wine, put the record on, invite your girl over, get sexy.”

It’s hard to argue with that. But “I’m bringing sexy back”–that phrase–needs to go.

“I definitely didn’t think it would become the most worn-out joke of 2006,” Timberlake said in a recent interview, according to mtv.com.

Hats off to you, Justin. That sounds like ample enough reason to send “I’m bringing sexy back” off to the retirement home with these other cliches from the 2000s.

“I wish I knew how to quit you.”

Madge awaits adopted son

The 1-year-old boy whom Madonna and her husband are seeking to adopt left for England on Monday, flying first on a chartered plane to South Africa, then on a regularly scheduled flight to London, where the singer has a home.

The boy, David Banda, was accompanied by two Britons and two Americans, one of whom listed her occupation as nanny, according to an immigration official at the airport in Malawi who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.

A woman carried the child through Johannesburg international airport to board the plane for London. Three male bodyguards tried to prevent reporters from photographing the boy, whose face was shielded by the woman’s hand.

A statement from Liz Rosenberg, Madonna’s publicist in New York, said the child was issued a passport and a visa Monday. She said the family expected to be reunited in coming days.

“She’s going to do her best to not make it a public circus,” Rosenberg said. “It’s not my sense that she would want to expose the whole thing to public scrutiny.”

Teaming up

How about some Red Hot Chili Peppers with a side of Gnarls Barkley? The two music heavyweights are teaming up for a North American arena tour in January, billboard.com reports. Dates have yet to be announced, as both bands are currently on the road separately.

Seal of approval

George Clooney said he won’t run for president, but he has a certain senator from Illinois in mind. “I am becoming the biggest fan of Barack Obama,” the actor told Entertainment Weekly on his way to receive an award from American Cinematheque in L.A. “He is a great guy and super-smart and passionate about important causes.”

Like father, like daughter

“Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin’s 8-year-old daughter is picking up where her father left off. Bindi Irwin, whose dad was killed last month by a stingray, is currently shooting “Bindi, the Jungle Girl,” a 26-part wildlife documentary set to debut in January on the Discovery Kids network.
