Bears coach Lovie Smith attempted to take down any bulletin-board material he may have provided when he remarked after Monday night’s victory that the Bears were a “team of destiny.”
“What I meant to say was that that night we were a team of destiny,” Smith said to a round of laughter. “I just wanted to clarify some of that.”
Smith also wants to re-establish his status as a pillar of emotional placidity, not the excitable figure TV cameras captured and that his children asked him about when he returned home after the game.
“I was hoping nobody would bring that up,” Smith said. “There’s a time you don’t want the cameras on you, for sure.”
