Vincent W. Ray, a resident of Key West for the past 17 years, passed away suddenly and peacefully on August 12, 2006. Vince was born in Chicago, IL on June 10,1962. Vince was loved and respected by his co-workers and customers. He was a savvy, successful businessman that delivered what was promised. Because he was an avid reader, he could discuss most any subject with the depth of an academic. His love of history and travel led him and his wife to vacation in exotic locales worldwide. His unique persona and zest for life made him unforgettable. His smile and friendly personality made you feel he was your best friend. Vince loved the reef like a true Key West native. He was a protector of the reef and a fundraiser for many charities involving children and animals. His kind heart left this world a better place. Vincent is survived by Maika, his one true love, his best friend, wife, and, soul mate of 14 years; his mother Nada Meccia and stepfather Frank Meccia; his grandmothers Dolly Meccia and the late Virginia Verock; his cousins, Christine Rempas, Sonny Pacelli, Anthony Rempas, Crystal Gligorovic, Stevie Gurnicz and Carla Rempas. His Argentine relatives, mother and father-in-law Susana and Kuki and uncle Alberto and Stephanie. The memorial Mass for his Chicago relatives and friends will be at Old St Patrick’s Church, 700 W. Adams, Chicago, IL on Oct. 21, 2006 at 9 a.m.
