I would like to thank Dawn Turner Trice for her column about a fence around our campus park. As a neighbor of South Loop Elementary School and a parent of a South Loop school student, I am thrilled with the progress the school has made in the past five years under the direction of principal Patrick Baccellieri.
The South Loop neighborhood should be thrilled that its community school is doing so well, helping to increase the value of our community and our property. It is disheartening to watch the attacks on the school and its administration from neighbors who are either not aware of all the wonderful things that are happening at the school or who are acting out old grudges. I would invite neighbors to attend the Local School Council meetings themselves to find out more about the school directly.
