This is in response to “Reasons for a draft” (Voice of the people, Oct. 12), by Dale Glowacki.
We may indeed need a draft, as Glowacki thinks we do, but forgive me if I don’t want to see my son sacrificed to a vain attempt to convert ideologues to reason.
My son’s life is worth far more than the remote chance that sacrificing it might bring the knee-jerk reactionary down the street to turn off his gung-ho talk radio to consider the facts about Iraq.
That’s not a chance I’m willing to take.
