Kurt Busch won the pole for Sunday’s Subway 500 at Martinsville Speedway, his Nextel Cup Series-high sixth pole position of the season. Busch drove at 97.568 m.p.h. He knocked Jeff Gordon to the outside of the front row after Gordon set the early standard at 97.377 mph.

– Justin Rose was 17 under through 16 holes when the second round of the Funai Classic at Disney in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., was suspended because of darkness. Clubhouse leader Tag Ridings was four back at 13 under.

– Fred Funk shot a 6-under 65 to take a one-stroke lead in the AT&T Championship in San Antonio. Funk, 50, had six birdies in his bogey-free round. Scott Simpson, Dan Pohl and R.W. Eaks opened with 66s.
