Nicholas D. Thiakos, age 66, at rest Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006 at his late residence. Born in Island of Lefkada, Greece and a Mokena resident for the past 27 years. Owner and operator of Zepole Restaurant Supply Company since 1982. Nicholas was an accomplished musician, who enjoyed playing the guitar and the bouzouki. A man of many talents, he did not know the meaning of the phrase “I can’t”. Member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church and the Ahepa Society. Preceded in death by his parents, Dimitrios and Maria Thiakos; and one sister, Vasiliki Manolitsis. Survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Sophia N. Thiakos of Mokena; three sons, Dimitrios of Mokena, Gary of New Lennox and Nick Thiakos, Jr. of Chicago; two daughters, Maria of Mokena and Diana (Dean) Passarelli of Antioch, IL; five grandchildren; one brother, Peter (Angela) Thiakos of New Lennox; one sister, Anastasia (Socrates) Zavitsanos of Houston, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006, 8:45 a.m. from Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church for services at 9:30 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorials to the American Cancer Society appreciated.
