Paul U. Diebold, 85, of Independence, WI, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006 at the Franciscan Skemp Healthcare Nursing Home in Arcadia, WI. He was born July 15, 1921 in Oak Park, IL to Paul and Jesse (Foster) Diebold. On April 29, 1950, Paul married Cora Hathaway at Fort Atkinson. Cora preceded him in death on Dec. 13, 2003. Paul was a proud veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Navy. In addition to having worked as a fireman for River Forest, he worked security at Ashley Furniture and had also worked as a crossing guard. Paul served as an alderman for the city of Arcadia and was also a member of the Utility Commission for the City of Arcadia. He is survived by six children, Paul (Linda) Diebold of Sheridan, IL, Katherine DalCason of New Lenox, IL, Kelly (Cathy) Diebold of Arcadia, WI, Martha (Scott) Wiench of Independence, WI, Christopher (Kristie) Diebold of Oswego, IL, and John Diebold (Emily Zerull) of Sycamore, IL; ten grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; six great-granddaughters; and one brother, Donald (Jennifer) Diebold of Hayward, WI. Preceding Paul in death were his parents; wife, Cora; son, Joseph, son-in-law, John DalCason; and brother, Foster. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006 at the Wozney-Killian Funeral Home, Arcadia, with Sister Rose Grabowski officiating. Military graveside services will be at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Arcadia. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.
