If Barack Obama ran for president, I would eagerly vote for him.

On the other hand, I respect his desire to gain more experience and reluctance to run so early in his career.

In fact it’s that very reluctance that is part of why I like him so much.

Strategically, both for him and for the Democrats, I think his best bet is to accept a vice presidential spot in ’08.

Win or lose, he’ll be in good position then for his own presidential run in ’12 or ’16.
