The U.S. population has now reached 300,000 million, with another 100 million expected in 35 or so years.

The world’s current population now stands at 6.5 billion.

And in the same 35 years hence, the world’s population should reach an astounding 9 billion humans.

Needless to say, this spaceship called Earth that we all call home, at some point (and probably in the not too distant future) will not be able to continue supporting this ongoing increase in human life.

As a direct result of overpopulation, we are currently consuming our natural non-renewable resources, destroying our ozone layer and creating global warming along with its many side effects. We are polluting the atmosphere as well as our rivers, lakes and streams.

In addition, overpopulation is contributing to poverty and hunger, which in turn create malnutrition, disease and crime.

Perhaps now is the time for our government and religious leaders to focus on the serious dilemma soon to face humanity and realistically look at the inevitable consequence of overpopulation.

If we don’t get it under control, Mother Nature will do it for us.
