Edwin Doerr, 84, of Holmes Beach, FL, died Oct. 21, 2006. Born in Chicago, IL, he came to Manatee County in 1995, from Park Forest, IL. He was a computer programmer with General Electric and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and American Legion Post 24. Survivors include wife, Burdette; sons, Michael (Valera) Doerr, Ed (Joanne) Doerr, Nick (Carolyn) Doerr, Bill (Sally) Doerr and Richard (Sheila) Doerr; daughters, Diana Cruz, Jan (Ken) Martch, Mary Jane Doerr, Kathy (David) Fares, Joanne Doerr, Eileen (Mike) Johnson, Laura (Sam) Guzzino, and Renee (Dennis) Kuta; sister, Dorothy Ammer Pohl; thirty grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 26, 5 to 7 p.m. at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, Island Chapel. Funeral Mass will be Friday, Oct. 27, 1 p.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church.
