– British band Duran Duran said guitarist Andy Taylor has left the group ahead of the U.S. leg of a world tour–five years after the chart-topping 1980s band got back together.

– Chicago’s Joseph Jefferson Awards Committee announced Thursday that Goodman Theatre artistic director Robert Falls and executive director Roche Schulfer will receive special Jeff Awards at this year’s ceremony, slated for DePaul’s Merle Reskin Theatre on Nov. 6. – Shakira and the son of an ex-president of Argentina have talked about marriage but are waiting for now, his father was quoted Thursday as saying. “Kids today would rather live as a couple,” former President Fernando de la Rua told a Dominican newspaper of the singer, 29, and his son, Antonio. “They don’t believe that marriage is necessary to be happy.”

– Grant Park will host Lollapalooza on Aug. 3-5 next year, organizers have announced.

– Jesse Martin became a real-life crime victim after returning to his hometown of Buffalo to shoot a film. The “Law & Order” star was eating breakfast in a restaurant Monday and signing autographs when someone broke into a sport-utility vehicle and stole his luggage, video iPod and dozens of autographed photos.
